Working in family support with women who are pregnant and early parenting

As a trained Circle of Security (COS) facilitator, I would like to support parents, caregivers, and educators in home, community, and educational settings by helping them better understand and respond to attachment needs. Through this approach, I aim to raise awareness of how children express emotional cues and guide adults in responding to these cues effectively, fostering secure and nurturing relationships. My focus is on working with young parents and their children to strengthen their attachment bonds and create supportive environments.

With a background in mental health, community engagement, behavior support, and my experience as an Integration Aide and Clinical Art Therapist, I bring a well-rounded perspective to my work. I blend these experiences with therapeutic arts to create safe, inclusive spaces where parents and children can grow, heal, and thrive together. My goal is to provide practical tools and emotional support to help parents build stronger, more secure connections with their children.

I do online groups mornings, evenings or weekends depending on the time zone and needs of the group.

I am a dedicated advocate for families and children, with a strong focus on early childhood development, parent education, and community engagement. I am passionate about fostering secure attachment and creating opportunities for children and families through strong, positive relationships. Let’s give children deep roots so they can soar. I am available to facilitate the Circle of Security Program for individuals and groups, offering sessions during the day, in the evenings, and on weekends. I speak English and German. I can work with you online and/or in person.

I support the parent-child relationship from birth through young adulthood, offering Circle of Security for small groups and private-self pay clients.

Dr. Laura Ospina-Pinillos is a medical doctor and psychiatrist trained at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She specializes in child, adolescent, and family psychiatry, with advanced training in family therapy from the Milan Center for Systemic Therapy in Italy. Dr. Ospina-Pinillos completed her PhD at the University of Sydney, Australia, where she focused on the integration of technology in mental health care.

Since 2011, she has maintained a private practice in Colombia, where she offers specialized psychiatric care. She is also a Registered Facilitator for the Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) program, certified by Circle of Security International in 2018 in Sydney, Australia.

Currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Dr. Ospina-Pinillos leads clinical initiatives and projects aimed at closing the mental health treatment gap. In addition to her research, she lectures and participates in the training of residents. Her work emphasizes the use of technology to support mental health interventions and provide early prevention strategies for youth.

In 2022, she was recognized by the Inter-American Development Bank as one of the Women Champions in Digital Health in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Washington County Family Center; facilitates COSP to parents with children ages 0-3 who are enrolled at the Family Center. Specializes in working with teen parents and ESL parents.
